Scholarships and Philanthropic Initiatives

At the heart of ZNEF’s objectives is the provision of financial support to students pursuing higher education through scholarships. Since its inception in 1975, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships and fellowships to both Zetas and Non-Zetas. Furthermore, the Foundation has overseen hundreds of additional scholarships as part of its Chapter Designated Scholarship program, initiated in 1980. Under this program, local chapters nationwide have been empowered to grant scholarships and fellowships. The Foundation’s scholarship program thrives through various sources of funding, including contributions from Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., chapter taxes, life member fees, contributions from members and chapters, Board of Managers’ donations, memorial scholarships, regional and state-level fundraising efforts, as well as endowments at the national, chapter, and Board of Managers levels.

Diverse Scholarship Opportunities and the Founders’ Centennial Scholarship

ZNEF offers an array of 15 distinct scholarships that cater to various academic disciplines. Among these, the prestigious Founders’ Centennial Scholarship takes center stage, bestowing a substantial $125,000 scholarship to a female high school senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university. This scholarship is a tribute to the five founding members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. The Centennial International President of Zeta Phi Beta, Valerie Hollingworth Baker, initiated the tradition of awarding the Founders’ Centennial Scholarship in 2020, offering $100,000 for five consecutive years, with an increase to $125,000 in 2021 to accommodate the rising costs of college tuition.

In summary, the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority National Educational Foundation, Inc. is a beacon of hope and opportunity, nurturing academic excellence and community development. Its rich history, dedication to scholarship, and the pursuit of higher education exemplify the enduring legacy of ZNEF and its profound impact on individuals and communities.
