Ghost Writing:

We'll start by developing your concept or story idea into a detailed writing plan and outline. Before we start writing, we'll go over the writing plan and outline with you to make sure you understand exactly how the book will be structured and how the major elements will play out.

Once we're in agreement with the development work, We will start writing. Each week or so you will receive a draft of what has been written so you can see how it's coming along. As the story takes shape, elements often emerge that weren't obvious during the developmental stage. If we see opportunities to improve the story with a major change, we will clear that with you before I proceed.

The end result of these efforts will be a book manuscript in electronic form ready for submission to literary agents and publishers or to be published by Prosperity Publishing. We will also prepare a book proposal (a one-page query letter, a synopsis of two to four pages, an author's bio, and a chapter-by-chapter outline.)

What about research?

Ghostwriting a book often requires some research. If your story is an historical novel taking place in San Francisco in the early part of the nineteenth century, for example, I'll want to acquaint myself with historical events of that place and time, the ethnic make-up of the city, what day-to-day life was like, customs and common language idioms, and other background elements. This kind of research will allow me to place the reader in that historical setting so he or she can experience the scenes in vivid detail.

Of course, nonfiction books usually require more research than novels. One of my ghostwriting projects about the Vietnam war required quite a bit of research into several important battles as well as interviews with dozens of Vietnam veterans.

How long will it take you to ghostwrite my book?

Usually four to eight months from start to finish, depending on the nature of the book. Books requiring a lot of research will take longer than books that don't.

If you ghostwrite my book, will you be listed as its author?

No. You will be listed as the sole author of the book. My ghostwriting work is confidential. My name will not appear on the publishing contract or the book cover. All copyright and financial rights to the book will be yours.

How much will it cost?

That depends on the nature of the book and how much work it will require. Over the past few years, our ghostwriting fees have ranged from $7,500 to $18,000.

Copy Editing:

One of our professional editors will use The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition, the preferred style guide in the book publishing industry, and the Merriam-Webster dictionary while editing your manuscript.

The editor will review your manuscript using the Microsoft Word Track Changes feature and provide a line edit that corrects typos and ensures consistency in:

  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Spelling

In addition, an editor will also provide an Editorial Letter explaining the suggested changes made in the manuscript. We will utilize track changes for you to keep up with the changes.

Line Editing:

We'll write you an editorial letter, giving you an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript (Please note, we will not make comments in the ms itself). We'll focus on:

  • Plot & Pacing: Does every page propel the story forward? Is there enough conflict? Do the stakes feel high enough?
  • Character Development: Do we care about your characters? Are they fully-realized and compelling?
  • Voice: Is your voice consistent, authentic, and intriguing?
  • Writing: Is it easy and enjoyable to read? Does it flow and fit the tone of the book?
  • World-building: Is your setting vivid, whether it's fantasy or the real world? Are you employing all five senses to help your reader feel fully present.

Major Manuscript Overhaul - You've written a rough draft of your book, but you know it needs a lot of work. We will develop a rewrite plan and go over it with you to make sure we're in agreement with the scope of the work to be done, then I'll overhaul your manuscript from the ground up. We will utilize track changes for you to keep up with the changes

Manuscript evaluation:

This is the question you should be asking yourself: Is my book good enough to appeal to a major commercial publisher? That's where my manuscript evaluation comes in. I'll read your novel or non-fiction book, evaluate its market potential, and give you an assessment of its strengths and weaknesses. If your writing career is worth $200 to you, this is the place to start.
